Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and her fiancé Victor (Gael García Bernal), a chef, is planning a vacation together in Verona, Italy. It turns out that previously they expect holiday will increasingly unite their love, slowly faded when Victor utilize the vacation to meet with the suppliers for his restaurant which will soon open in New York.

Because of the busyness fiancee, Sophie decided to enjoy the holidays themselves. Which took him to a house that became a place to stay Juliet Capulet, a character in the novel’s Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare and bring it met with a group of women who call themselves sebagai’Juliet’s secretaries’ (secretary Juliet).

‘Juliet’s secretaries’ work reply to the letters written by the girls who are experiencing romance. By writing a letter to Juliet and pasted on the walls of his house, the girls are hoping to get answers to their love problems.

Interested in what they have done, Sophie finally decided to get involved with the group, and Sophie accidentally discovered a letter written 50 years ago by a woman named Claire. With the permission of the group, she wrote back and no one expected it, Claire (Vanessa Redgrave) comes to Verona with his grandson Charlie (Christopher Egan).

Though already 50 years old, Claire hopes to meet with the hero. Charlie who accompanied her grandmother to come to Verona was upset because the letter made Sophie. Searching a man named Lorenzo Bartolini, encountering many difficulties (many men name Lorenzo Bartolini), Charlie begins to feel like to Sophie who buried because they know Sophie has had a fiancee.
